Quick Political Rant
Medicare could be a nice political baseball bat for the dems if presented correctly. It can certainly be used as a leverage point with seniors who seem mostly for Bush but now might change their minds.
Is it me (Mr. Lefty) or does it seem we are back in the good-ol-boy days of big time corporate influence over domestic policy?
To me, the most disturbing change is the GOP Senators and House Reps who are lockstep behind the President like German soldiers off to the Russian front.
These men aren't fools, but party discipline muzzles them. If they speak out, no support from the GOP.
Sen. Frist and Rep Hastart are the Gestapo and SS keeping everyone on that side of the aisle in line. The dems, of course, are the Jews, to continue the bad analogy.
Congress, the second and equal branch of government, has become the whipping boy to Bush/Cheney.
The third branch can't be far away. Another term ought to do it.
Corporate America are just tying to make a buck like always, no matter how slimy things get.
This is classic Reagan/Nixon era politics. Jesus H. Christ.
I wonder if the Vice President's office uses any recording devices?

The Chargers and the City of San Diego
I've been doing a lot of exercising and writing lately on other projects, so my blog has suffered.
Here are some thoughts on the Chargers and the City of San Diego and the current pissing match.
There is half a billion dollars on the table, so lets not get our panties in a bunch if each party engages in a little whining and brinkmanship. The Chargers have filed a lawsuit to exercise the trigger clause. The City is getting poopy about it.
But both parties are still talking (unlike the grocery store people). The Chargers are simply looking for a little more leverage and the City, now completely on the defensive, is whining about it.
But they are still talking….
As a long-time Charger fan, I would like to see them stay in San Diego (San Diego always looks good for a Super Bowl) but I don't want to get worked on a Spanos deal so I like that the city is being tough. The Spanos' don't strike me as nuanced deal makers (lot o construction money if you get my drift) and they certainly don't have the community capitol that John Moose and the Padres have. But there are worse owners in the NFL. Drive about 350 miles east on I-8 and you'll find one.
If the Chargers go somewhere else, I'll still be a fan.
Actually, right now stay-at-home fans have it the best with the ticket guarantee. City buys all they extra tickets and the blackout is raised every Sunday. There hasn't been a blackout in 7 years. The team sucks, but that is another matter.
So let me just say this:
Chargers-get off your high horse and dump highly paid mouth piece (Fabeo) and talk turkey, a la John Morse. Do you want to be here or not? If so, lets do a deal.
City-Stop whining Mr. Mayor and City Council members about every little thing that happens on the playground. Your defensiveness belies your small town mentality. Grow up!
Charger fan-hang in there. They may make it to 500 someday.
